Privacy Policy

What We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide the service, and only from parents:

• Parent email address — for account creation, login, and important service communications.
• Parent-created kid profiles — first name and avatar choice only. No last names, no birthdates, no photos.
• Channel and video selections — the YouTube content a parent approves for their children.
• Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store credit card numbers.
• Device type, OS, and app version — to ensure compatibility and troubleshoot issues.
• IP address and approximate location — country-level only, on the parent side only, for security and fraud prevention.
• Usage data — session frequency, feature usage, and error logs to help us improve the service.

What We Don't Collect

We believe the safest data is data that never exists. We do not collect:

• Children's personal information of any kind
• Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data from kid screens
• Behavioral analytics or watch pattern data for advertising
• Third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels

YouTube API Usage

Blübitübe uses the YouTube Data API v3 to allow parents to search for and browse YouTube content. All YouTube API calls happen on the parent side only — never from kid-facing screens.

Our use of the YouTube API is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in our self-hosted database with encryption at rest and in transit. We use row-level security to ensure that each family can only access their own data. Parent PINs are stored as cryptographic hashes and cannot be reversed. We perform daily encrypted backups.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., transaction records for tax/accounting purposes, which may be retained for up to 7 years).

Third Parties

We share your information with the minimum set of providers required to operate the service:

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we never handle card numbers.
• Google (YouTube Data API) — to fetch video and channel metadata for parent search only.
• Supabase — authentication and data storage.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Export your data in a portable format

International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States and countries in Southeast Asia. Where required, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
